Kärcher steam cleaner: grease and scale notes for SC 3 Deluxe Home buyers

I wanted my Kärcher steam cleaner to make chores easier. Instead, greasy cloths, dripping cabinets and stubborn limescale left me with more work.

It created more work for me

This is so, so difficult to use! I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought it. For me, it did nothing useful and gave me a pile of extra jobs.

Photo 1 is from cleaning the extractor hood. The Kärcher cloth is very thick, and once it picks up grease it’s incredibly hard to wash. I have to soak it in different cleaners. Previously I just removed the hood part, sprayed cleaner on it and rinsed it off.

Photo 2 shows the cabinet. Steam keeps turning into running droplets. I have to clear everything below it or the objects on the counter all get wet, then put everything back afterwards. Disposable wet wipes feel much more convenient to me; for high cabinets I could buy an extension pole. In photo 3, the marks are still clearly visible after wiping.

Photo 4 is using it as a steam mop, with water continually running as steam comes out. I have a robot for the floors, and wanted this for raised areas the robot can’t reach. Those areas are wood, so with all that water I didn’t dare use it there.

Photos 5 and 6 show what happened after directing steam at limescale for about five minutes. I couldn’t see what it had cleaned. I’d rather use an inexpensive scouring powder, leave it for a few minutes and brush it off.

Overall, of all the appliances I’ve bought for the home, this is the most frustrating to use. Are you really speaking honestly in all those recommendation posts?
