Kinetico Premier Compact HF: a Southampton installation account
I chose Kinetico Premier Compact HF after comparing UK softeners; Southampton installation took two hours, and I left out a shelf to keep the drinking filter accessible.

Continuing from the previous post, I will start with the conclusion: I ultimately chose Kinetico.
After I confirmed the order, the installation took place the following week. Kinetico provided the installation free of charge, and they also handled any cabinet modifications that were needed. The dealer brought all the required fittings, making the process very easy; the whole installation took two hours. During the installation, they even knocked on the office door to confirm with me whether the drinking-water filter should be connected to hard water or softened water.
Because we added a drinking-water filter, cutting the original cabinet shelf shorter and putting it back would have made the filter difficult to replace later. Mark said that if I wanted to add the shelf back, he could cut it very short and reinstall it for me. After thinking about it, I decided it was not really necessary, so I did not ask him to do that extra work.
The whole process was handled carefully. I do not know how Kinetico dealers in other areas operate, but if you are considering a water softener in the Southampton area, I would suggest trying Mark.

The source’s comparison chart identifies the selected product as the UK Kinetico Premier Compact HF, but the product identification is not confirmed by a separate data-plate photograph. The official UK evidence distinguishes the HF from the HE version, so buyers should confirm the exact model with the installer.

What the installation account confirms
The author reports that the Southampton dealer installed the selected Kinetico system the week after the order, supplied the fittings, completed required cabinet modifications, and finished in two hours without an installation charge. That timing and service arrangement belong to this dealer visit, not to every UK Kinetico installation.

The installer also asked whether the drinking-water filter should use hard or softened water. This is a useful point to settle before work begins, because the water-treatment layout and later filter access depend on the chosen connection.
Cabinet access and maintenance
With the UK Kinetico Premier Compact HF installation, the owner left the shortened shelf out to keep the separate drinking-water filter easy to replace. This is the owner’s practical access decision; the softener manual’s bypass and drain requirements are separate installation checks.
The manual also requires a flat installation position, an accessible bypass, a suitable drain air gap, and a visible overflow. Connections can be arranged on either side by reversing components, while a prefilter may be needed where incoming water contains sand or silt; the installer should check these conditions at the home.
Model and comparison limits
The official UK Premier Compact HF is a non-electric twin-tank cabinet softener using block salt, with listed cabinet dimensions of 498 mm high, 219 mm wide and 468 mm deep. The official range positions Compact for up to three bathrooms, while the owner describes a five-bedroom, four-bathroom Southampton home; one account cannot validate sizing for simultaneous use, so confirm flow requirements with the installer.
HarveyArc is the alternative quoted in the author’s comparison, not a product the author reports owning or testing. Its current UK description also lists non-electric twin cylinders and an optional WiFi salt i-Lid, but these shared features alone do not establish identical hardware or performance.
