Neakasa M1 Plus: One-Month Open-Top Litter Box Experience
I used the Neakasa M1 Plus for a month with my large cat and found its open design helped prevent stuck litter, edge urination and digging.
After reading many posts while choosing a litter box, I noticed that open-top litter boxes had become much more common. Cats do seem to prefer them, although every model has people warning others away from it. In the end, I chose the original open-top brand's upgraded model, the Neakasa M1 Plus, mainly because my cat is quite large and the space seemed like a good fit.
After using it for a month, the experience was far better than I expected. There is no door at the bottom, so litter never gets stuck. My cat urinates close to the edge and has a habit of digging litter everywhere, but both problems unexpectedly disappeared after I started using this model. Its silicone mat is also very thick, and together with the sealing strip on the machine, it completely blocked any smell while the machine was running. More thoughtfully, the M1 Plus has also been upgraded with an anti-cat-entrapment feature, which makes it safer even for kittens.
I genuinely think smart pet care is not just an unnecessary gimmick. Once you have used this litter box, you understand how much easier it makes things!

The owner identifies the product as the Neakasa M1 Plus, while the official US and EU stores also identify regional products with that name. Exact component and package equivalence with the owner’s Chinese-market unit is unconfirmed, so compare the local specifications and included accessories separately.

How the regional M1 Plus references relate to the account
The owner's account is a one-month experience with a Chinese-market Neakasa M1 Plus. The US and EU official pages confirm the same product name and an open-top design, but the owner’s exact configuration, package and warranty have not been matched to either regional version.
For a US purchase, the official page lists app monitoring, Pull & Wrap waste disposal, an 11.23 L waste capacity and a 7.17 L litter capacity; it also currently marks the listing as sold out. For an EU purchase, check shipping to the destination country and the applicable mains standard before ordering.
Open access and litter-control trade-offs
The owner specifically chose the open-top layout because it appeared to suit a larger cat, and reports that edge urination and scattered digging improved during the month of use. Those are the owner's observations from one cat and one setup, not a verified result for every cat or regional model.
The owner's report credits the absence of a bottom door with preventing litter from getting stuck. The official US reference also describes an open-top system with a rotating chamber and waste disposal, but it does not independently verify the owner's litter-flow result.
Sealing, odor and kitten-use limits
The owner reports that a thick silicone mat and the machine's sealing strip prevented detectable odor while the machine was operating. The US official listing identifies a sealing strip and leak-prevention layer as Plus additions, while the EU page also identifies an added seal; odor performance remains the owner's reported experience rather than a supplied laboratory test.
The owner describes the anti-entrapment upgrade as making the unit safer for kittens, but buyers should check the operating limit rather than apply that statement broadly. The US FAQ says cats below 2.2 lb should use Kitten Mode, which disables automatic cleaning; the kitten weight limit remains unconfirmed for the owner’s Chinese-market unit and the EU version.
The US official reference requires clumping litter and specifies a filter that accepts particles up to 3 mm in diameter and 10 mm in length. Confirm those requirements for the regional package you intend to buy, because the owner's account does not identify the litter type used.
