Neakasa M1 Plus: easy cleaning, weekly bag changes and scattered litter
After half a month with my Neakasa M1 Plus, weekly bag changes keep odors down and cleaning is easy. But my cat jumps out and scatters litter around.
This was my first automatic cat litter box. I mainly bought it because I would be going home for the Spring Festival and could not take my cat with me, so after researching for a long time, I was persuaded to buy the Yibao automatic cat litter box M1+. I have used it for more than half a month, and I want to talk about the M1+ automatic cat litter box’s safety, odour, and cleaning to help everyone decide how well it actually works.
Safety: I have had no problems in this respect. It has infrared presence sensing and gravity sensing, and I tested it many times with my hand; both were very sensitive. The gear mechanism has an intentionally gearless section. The machine cannot rotate through that section, so it always leaves a safe exit.
Odour: I currently change the bag once a week, and there is no smell. I estimate that you would only notice a little odour after leaving the waste bag unchanged for more than a week. The cleaning time can also be set as you prefer. My cat’s stools have always been normal, so I set automatic cleaning to three minutes. If your cat often has soft stools or diarrhoea, you can set a longer delay so the clumps have time to form fully. Handling the waste-bin bag is also convenient, and the pull-out compartment keeps my hands clean.
Cleaning: It is easy to wash. I washed it for the first time two days ago. The litter chamber is completely seamless and does not leak urine, which makes cleaning easy. The drum is open, so there are no awkward areas that are difficult to wash or reach. Most importantly, I only need to take the litter chamber to the bathroom instead of moving the whole machine. Only the litter chamber really needs washing; I wipe the body with wet wipes, and if I want to wash the waste bin, rinsing it twice is enough.
Other points: The waste bin has a large capacity, the app lets me see the bathroom visits of different cats in real time, and cats accept the open design well. The one drawback is that the entrance is higher than a normal litter box. My cat often jumps out and tends to track litter around, although adding a litter-trapping step helps a lot.
Overall, the Yibao M1+ has been very good for both the cat’s experience and the owner’s experience. I am glad I did my research before buying it.

The owner identifies the product as the Yibao M1+. Its name and photographed open-top layout appear to match the Neakasa M1 Plus on current EU and US official pages, although the source does not supply a complete regional retail identifier. The regional pages list the same model name but should be checked locally for the selected bundle, warranty terms and any included accessories.

The owner does not provide a full regional retail configuration. |
| Yibao M1+ / Neakasa M1 Plus | Neakasa M1 Plus (US) | The US official page identifies the regional product as Neakasa M1 Plus and lists a 13.86-inch entrance height, approximately 35.2 cm, plus 11.23 L waste and 7.17 L litter capacities. The page retains some older M1 wording, so the current Plus title does not establish that older M1 units had the Plus upgrades. |

What the owner actually tested
The owner used the Yibao M1+ for more than half a month and reports a positive first experience, but this remains a short personal account rather than an independent safety test. The owner’s safety conclusion comes from repeated hand tests of the sensors and their observation of the gear mechanism, not from a long-term or multi-cat assessment.
The owner set the cleaning delay to three minutes because their cat normally produces firm stools. Their suggestion to use a longer delay for soft stools or diarrhoea is their practical advice, so buyers should treat the setting as dependent on the cat’s litter habits rather than as a universal recommendation.
Cleaning and daily handling
The owner’s main cleaning advantage is that they can remove and wash the litter chamber without carrying the complete machine. They describe wiping the body with a wet wipe and optionally rinsing the waste bin, while the owner’s photograph shows the unit disassembled for cleaning. This is their observed routine, not a confirmed cleaning schedule for every household.
The owner changes the waste bag weekly and reports no odour during that interval, estimating that a little smell may appear after more than a week. The official EU page lists an added odour-sealing strip and an 11.23 L waste capacity, while the US page lists the same waste capacity; actual replacement frequency will depend on the number of cats and waste volume.
Entrance height and tracked litter
The owner’s clearest drawback is the higher entrance: their cat jumps out and carries litter away, although they say a litter-trapping step helps substantially. The US specification gives the Neakasa M1 Plus entrance height as 13.86 inches, about 35.2 cm. That published measurement makes entry height worth checking against a cat’s mobility and the intended placement.
The open-top design is important to the owner’s positive assessment: they say cats readily accept it, and the official EU and US pages also identify an open top and app monitoring. The official pages recommend clumping litter; the EU page specifically says non-clumping wood pellets are unsuitable, so litter compatibility should be confirmed before purchase.
EU and US buying checks
For EU buyers, the official page lists 7.17 L litter capacity, 11.23 L waste capacity, app tracking, Pull & Wrap disposal and a 24-month manufacturing-defect guarantee. These are listed regional specifications and warranty terms, not measurements or performance results from the owner’s half-month use.
For US buyers, the official page lists 7.17 L litter and 11.23 L waste capacities, app monitoring, Pull & Wrap disposal and a 13.86-inch (35.2 cm) entrance. Its banner advertises a two-year warranty, while the EU site’s FAQ still lists one year for US purchases. Confirm the warranty for the actual US offer before checkout.
