Aiper Scuba S1 Pro and Surfer S1: repair trouble and surface cleaning

My Aiper Surfer S1 keeps the pool surface clear. The Scuba S1 Pro has been harder to live with: a charging failure, a repair and erratic cleaning routes.

Real-world test~

The Surfer S1 is still very useful. I occasionally open the cover and empty out the leaves, and that is all it takes. It cleans the pool surface very thoroughly.

I had only recently bought the Scuba S1 Pro when it stopped accepting a charge, so it was sent back to the manufacturer for repair. After it came back, it worked quite well for a while, but recently I found that it behaves somewhat erratically while operating. When I set it to clean the wall and floor together, it fixates on one section of wall, going up and down, up and down, in a straight line without turning until the battery dies. So I lowered my expectations and had it clean only the floor, but its path was all over the place. So frustrating!

The owner does not give a full model number beyond Scuba S1 Pro and Surfer S1. The US and EU Scuba S1 Pro are listed as cordless submerged cleaners for floors, walls and the waterline, while the US Surfer S1 is a separate solar-powered surface skimmer. The owner’s observations should not be treated as interchangeable between these products.

Two different cleaning jobs

The owner is describing two separate pool-cleaning products. The Surfer S1 works on floating debris at the surface, while the Scuba S1 Pro is the submerged model intended for floors, walls and the waterline. Buyers should compare each robot with the cleaning task it is meant to perform, rather than treating the Surfer S1 as a version of the Scuba S1 Pro.

Surfer S1: low-effort surface maintenance

For the Surfer S1, the owner reports a simple routine: occasionally open the cover, empty the leaves and return it to the pool. The owner also says the surface becomes very clean. This is one owner’s experience, but it gives surface-debris buyers a concrete maintenance expectation; it does not establish cleaning performance for submerged dirt or the pool floor.

Scuba S1 Pro: repair history and navigation uncertainty

The owner says the Scuba S1 Pro initially failed to accept a charge, was returned to the manufacturer for repair, and then worked well for a period. More recently, the owner reports that combined wall-and-floor cleaning repeatedly climbed the same wall section until the battery ran out, while floor-only cleaning followed a freestyle route. These observations belong to one repaired unit and should not be read as a confirmed fault in every S1 Pro.

If predictable coverage matters, the owner’s account makes charging recovery and navigation behavior important points to verify before buying. The S1 Pro is designed for floor, wall and waterline cleaning. A route map, battery specification and manufacturer diagnosis for this unit remain unconfirmed, as does the outcome beyond the repair described here.
