Bissell SpotClean HydroSteam 3697Z: wet-mattress notes for Little Green HydroSteam buyers

I bought the Bissell 3697Z after my dog wet the bed. Cleaning left the mattress very wet, and the small tank and short hose made it harder than I expected.

An urgent mattress-cleaning purchase

My dog gave me a June shopping-season surprise by urinating on the bed. I threw out the bedding, but getting the mattress out of the upstairs room would practically mean demolishing a wall. Removing it to throw it away would cost too much, and a home-cleaning appointment wasn’t available until the 12th.

So I bought a fabric-cleaning machine and cleaned the fabric sofa as well. Both were very dirty. Instead of celebrating Children’s Day, I felt as though I was doing another Labour Day’s work.

My complaints

  1. The mattress was very wet afterwards. If I cleaned all the mattresses on the same day, I might have to sleep on the floor that night.
  2. I understood the supposed steam to reach only 75°C, not 100°C. How was that meant to remove mites and disinfect?
  3. The clean-water tank felt small, and I had to keep refilling it.
  4. The hose was short. To reach across a 1.8 m-wide mattress, I felt I had to put the machine on the bed.
  5. The main unit had no wheels, which made moving it inconvenient.

I wondered whether Bissell’s Xiaozhengbao series might offer better value, although I’d also seen complaints about it online. At the time, the new machine nicknamed “Xiaozhenglong” offered a 30-day trial. My guess was that someone who could wait six months might see the price fall by CNY 500.

Overall, I felt fabric-cleaner technology was immature—or at least had a lot of room to improve.

Choosing for everyday use

The owner’s SpotClean HydroSteam 3697Z left the mattress very wet after cleaning. If you are considering Little Green HydroSteam Pet 3618 (US) or the related SpotClean HydroSteam (UK), allow drying time as well as cleaning time.

Check the mattress maker’s instructions before wet cleaning; sofa-tag guidance does not automatically authorise cleaning a mattress. The UK HydroSteam support guide covers setup and use for that regional family. A portable extractor removes some moisture, but it does not make every deep, absorbent item dry immediately. Test hose reach from a stable placement before taking on a full mattress.

The owner’s 75°C statement has no measurement method or specified location, and the post includes no disinfection test. It cannot establish either a temperature limit or a sanitising result. Visible improvement and hygiene efficacy are different questions.

The trial period and CNY 500 forecast refer to June 2024. They are historical purchase context, not current offers. For today’s comparison, establish the exact model’s return conditions, usable hose reach and tank capacity before relying on another regional HydroSteam’s specifications.
