Harvey water softener: first-week rinsing and app notes for HarveyArc buyers

I installed a Harvey whole-house water softener and, after one week, found foam seemed harder to rinse while the app only reminded me about salt.

Screenshot of the 'my HARVEY' mobile app displaying 'My Water Softener' status, showing both left and right salt levels at 60%, with 19 days remaining and a button to reorder salt.

I had a whole-house water softener installed on the 21st. I’ve used it for one week.

I keep feeling that the foam doesn’t rinse clean. My water use has increased compared with before.

Is this normal?

I tried adjusting the settings in the app, but it cannot be adjusted at all.

The app only serves as a reminder to change the salt.

Can this water softener be adjusted?

What the first week shows

The owner had the whole-house system installed on the 21st and used it for one week before reporting that foam seemed harder to rinse and that water use had increased. These are personal observations from that short period; the account provides no meter reading, so it does not establish how much usage changed or why.

The report does not show that the softener is faulty. The owner asks whether the change is normal, but the post contains no water-hardness reading, installation setting, regeneration record or diagnostic result that could explain the rinsing experience.

The app’s documented role

The owner tried to change settings in the app and found no adjustment option, describing it as a salt-change reminder instead. Harvey’s UK HarveyArc page describes WiFi i-Lid salt monitoring, so salt-status monitoring is supported for that regional reference; the owner’s exact model and available controls remain unconfirmed.

Before buying or changing settings, confirm the installed model and ask the installer which parameters are user-adjustable. The owner’s experience shows that an app being present does not, by itself, confirm access to softening or regeneration controls.

Drinking-water considerations

Harvey explains that salt regenerates the resin and that softened water contains added sodium, while brine does not enter the household supply. It excludes infant feeds and medically prescribed low- or zero-sodium diets from softened drinking-water use, and says a separate drinking-water tap can be arranged.

That guidance is separate from the owner’s rinsing and water-use observations. If softened water will be used for drinking or infant feeds, confirm the household arrangement and the applicable medical guidance rather than treating a generic filter as equivalent to a separate drinking-water supply.
