Husqvarna Automower 450X NERA: a dealer’s first service after two years

I serviced a Husqvarna 450X NERA after more than two years and over 5,000 reported hours, finding packed grass, mud and rusty blades before diagnostics.

Dealer service report: Husqvarna X450 NERA

Today I serviced an automatic lawn mower for a long-standing customer. This machine is a Husqvarna X450 NERA wireless version, and it can cover a 5,000-square-metre lawn. The customer has owned it for more than two years and has used it for over 5,000 hours in total. This was its first service.

The first step was cleaning. Because it had not been cleaned for a long time, weeds and mud had mixed into clumps and stuck firmly to the machine. Many areas were difficult to reach, so we had to repeatedly rinse them with a water gun and use tools to dig the mud out. This step took a lot of time. I suggest that customers clean the machine themselves regularly when they have time.

After cleaning, we replaced the blades. These blades had also been used for a long time and had rusted. I also recommend replacing the blades on schedule to maintain cutting quality and efficiency.

Finally, we updated the firmware and checked the machine. We used officially authorised professional software to carry out a comprehensive test, and its basic condition was good. We generated a test report for the customer to keep.

Many people think that buying an automatic lawn mower means everything will take care of itself and they will never need to worry about it again. In reality, that is not entirely true. Daily maintenance, such as cleaning the machine and replacing the blades, is still necessary. Both jobs are simple enough to do yourself, or you can ask a professional dealer like us to do them for you.

The dealer writes X450 NERA, while the official UK listing identifies the product family as the Husqvarna Automower 450X NERA, model 970 53 53-03. This supports a family-level match, not an identical regional SKU or confirmation of the customer machine’s EPOS hardware. The account is from a Melbourne dealer servicing a customer, not an independent self-purchasing owner.

What the first service found

The dealer reports servicing a customer’s mower for the first time after more than two years and over 5,000 reported hours. The account is therefore a service observation, not proof that every 450X NERA will reach the same operating time or require the same work at the same interval.

The main practical issue was accumulated debris: weeds and mud had formed hard clumps in areas that were difficult to reach. That makes regular cleaning a meaningful ownership task even when the mower continues to operate, rather than a purely cosmetic precaution.

Cleaning and blade maintenance

The dealer describes using a water gun and tools to remove the buildup, but does not specify the water pressure. Husqvarna’s support guidance for the 450X NERA permits running-water cleaning while prohibiting high-pressure washers; it also advises switching the mower off, using gloves, removing clippings by hand and brush, and disconnecting the charging-station power supply before cleaning.

The service also found rusty blades after prolonged use. The dealer recommends replacing blades on schedule to preserve cutting quality and efficiency, while the account does not establish a universal replacement interval; owners should follow the relevant instructions for their configuration and cutting conditions.

Diagnostics and dealer support

The dealer updated the firmware, performed a comprehensive check with officially authorised professional software and supplied a report for the customer. The reported basic condition was good, but this is the result of one customer machine at one service visit, not a general reliability test of the model.

The account’s practical conclusion is that an automatic mower is not maintenance-free: cleaning and blade replacement remain part of routine care. The dealer considers both tasks simple enough for customers to perform themselves, while also offering professional servicing for owners who prefer assistance.
