John Deere X380: early starting trouble and a slow tyre leak
My John Deere X380 wouldn't start shortly after I bought it. One tyre also began slowly losing air—two frustrating problems with a newly purchased mower.
I had only just bought it when it would not start, and one tyre inexplicably began slowly losing air.
Whatever you do, do not buy this piece of junk.

Models in your region
The owner identifies the machine as a John Deere X380 and frames the complaint around its battery, but does not provide a deck width, serial range, battery test result or confirmed cause of the starting failure. Local parts and service matching therefore requires checking the exact configuration and serial number.

| John Deere X380 | John Deere X380 (48-inch deck) (US) | The US X380 listing covers a 48-inch deck configuration. It identifies a relevant local version, but the owner’s deck width and serial number are unknown, so exact equivalence is not confirmed. |
| John Deere X380 | John Deere X380 (UK) | The UK X380 is a regional version of the same model. The official page advises matching deck configuration and serial number for local parts or service; the owner’s complaint does not establish that the US and UK machines have identical builds. |
| John Deere X380 | John Deere X380 with 48/54-inch deck (US / Canada) | The US/Canada replacement-parts guide lists battery TY25221B for X380 tractors with 48- or 54-inch decks. It is a parts lead rather than proof of the owner’s battery specification, which should be checked against the tractor serial and configuration. |

What the owner experienced
The owner's account covers a starting failure soon after purchase and a separate slow tyre leak. The source does not report a repair, diagnosis, testing duration or final outcome, so these observations should be treated as one owner's unresolved experience rather than a model-wide reliability finding.
The owner's strong recommendation not to buy reflects their dissatisfaction with this particular machine and the timing of the faults. It does not establish that every X380 has the same problems, and the cause of neither issue is confirmed.
What to verify before ordering parts
A no-start symptom alone does not identify the battery as the cause: John Deere’s parts guidance also points to terminals, charging and other systems. Buyers should therefore obtain a diagnosis before treating the complaint as proof of a battery defect.
For US and Canadian X380 tractors, John Deere's parts guide lists battery TY25221B for 48- and 54-inch-deck configurations, but instructs owners to check the tractor serial and configuration with a dealer before ordering. The UK listing likewise calls for configuration and serial matching.
How much this report proves
The report may prompt a buyer inspecting a recently purchased X380 to check its starting system and tyre condition. It is too short to compare repair costs, long-term durability or regional build quality.
