OF HUNGER White Zircon after a month: style, sound and two-hour discomfort

I finally bought the OF HUNGER Electronic Gems earphones, the same style worn by Ming Xi. I have used them for nearly a month, so here are my impressions!

Design

The earphones really are quite beautiful. I spent a long time choosing between the limited-edition ear-hook version and the clip-on version. After looking into it, I found that the ear-hook version would leak more sound and would not be suitable for exercise, while the clip-on version seemed useful in more situations.

The classic Zircon clip-on version comes with a choice of a limited-edition box and White Zircon or Gray Zircon finishes. I chose White Zircon. It looks more sparkling and noticeable than Gray Zircon. Since I was buying these earphones for their appearance and visibility in the first place, I was not trying to be subtle.

There was also a choice between a limited-edition silver charging case and the classic bright pink charging case, with a 100-yuan price difference. The limited-edition silver case was said to use a luxury-grade surface coating for better wear and stain resistance.

I looked at both after they arrived. The silver one did feel a little more refined, but I still chose the pink one. The pink simply looked better to me, and the light strip around the case opening is pink too. It started with the appearance and ended with the appearance.

Everyday use

Comfort

I like listening to audiobooks. In my experience, they start to feel a little heavy after more than an hour and a half, and wearing them for more than two hours becomes painful and uncomfortable. Adjusting the ear-hook angle slightly can help. They can also feel uncomfortable when you first put them on, before you get used to them. My tested tip is to adjust the crossed wires so they sit at an angle parallel to the ground; this makes the earphones much more comfortable.

Sound quality

I compared them with my Sony Bluetooth earphones using the same song. The Sony pair clearly sounded better. Its in-ear design was more immersive, and its isolation and noise cancellation made listening more comfortable. The Sony also had much stronger bass, while the OF HUNGER earphones sounded lighter and brighter rather than as solid. These earphones have an app for adjustments, but I am not very knowledgeable about audio and did not change the settings. I bought them mainly for their appearance, so my sound expectations were not high; overall, the sound was still acceptable.

Sound leakage

Open-ear earphones will leak some sound; that cannot really be avoided. Their volume is also lower than that of ordinary in-ear earphones, so you should adjust it according to the surrounding noise.

AI features

The software appears to include meeting features, simultaneous interpretation and translation, but I have not tried them yet. I will come back with an update after testing them.

Overall, at more than 1,000 yuan, I do not think the value for money is especially high, though I can still justify what I get for the price. The sound is all right and there are quite a few additional features, but the main attraction is the appearance. If you are buying them for their looks, I do not think you will regret receiving them. One more thing: in my opinion, their responsiveness when paired with an iPhone is still not as good as Apple’s earphones. If appearance is not the reason you want them, I would recommend Apple earphones instead at this price.
