Philips NA230: a larger air fryer and questions about its materials
My Philips NA230 feels huge next to my old 3.5 L Xiaomi. After a week of researching materials, I asked customer service what the inner chamber was made of.
A bigger air fryer arrives
It feels more than twice as big as my old 3.5 L Xiaomi.
I spent more than a week researching this. Why is it so hard to find an air fryer without galvanized sheet metal or glass fibre?
I asked customer service, who told me there was no glass fibre and that the inner chamber was made from aluminized sheet metal. If it has a coating, so be it. It’s a consumable appliance; I don’t expect one to last a lifetime.

The owner identifies the NA230, without a full regional suffix. The viewing-window design and NA230 family name connect it to the following local products.
| Model in this review | Related regional model | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| NA230 | NA230/00 (US) | Philips lists the 6.2 L family with a cooking window and RapidAir. Buy the version rated for your local electrical supply. |
| NA230 | NA230/09 (UK) | The UK NA230 family also has a 6.2 L basket and window. The /09 suffix identifies the UK listing; a matching family name does not establish identical electrical components. |

Choosing for everyday use
For NA230/00 (US) and NA230/09 (UK) shoppers, the owner’s NA230 arrival report raises two different questions: usable capacity and the materials in specific parts.
The 6.2 L family capacity is about 1.77 times the owner’s former 3.5 L appliance, so “more than twice as big” is their impression of size, rather than a measured increase in basket volume. Compare the space needed on your counter and the dimensions of the food you want to cook.
The supplied Chinese materials sheet identifies an iron base with an aluminium-alloy plating for the pot and cooking rack, and PTFE for their coating. It also lists stainless-steel fasteners, silicone pads and a glass window. That photograph describes the sheet photographed by the owner; it does not identify every material in a US or UK unit. The customer-service claim about glass fibre is separate from that sheet. If avoiding a particular material determines your purchase, ask for the materials statement for the exact regional unit.
