Philips NA230 air fryer: my first sweet potatoes needed more time and a turn

My first sweet potatoes in the Philips NA230 were still hard underneath after 30 minutes. Turning them and giving them 20 more minutes made the difference.

Why I chose the NA230

My starting requirements were a budget of around CNY 300–500 and a capacity of roughly 6 litres. I wanted heating from both above and below, an all-metal interior, and materials I considered safe.

I looked at the Westinghouse H10 and H50, as well as the Joyoung V589. At first I was leaning towards the H10, but after seeing so many promotional posts online, something felt off. I switched my attention to the Philips 332, but I didn’t like its shape—I prefer a rounded, conventional design.

Then I came across the NA230. In the end, it came down to the H10 or the 230. After going back and forth, I chose the 230. I decided its starfish-shaped base would satisfy what I had wanted from dual heating: it was supposed to improve hot-air circulation and make heating more even.

The first sweet potatoes needed more time

In actual use, I roasted sweet potatoes at 180°C (356°F) for 30 minutes the first time. When I turned them over, the undersides were noticeably harder. I gave them another 20 minutes, and the final result was really good. They tasted great, and the flesh had pulled away from the skin.

What I paid

I paid CNY 356 in the end. Overall, I’m pretty happy with it, but I’ve seen so many people buy it for under CNY 300. Why do I never manage to get those bargains? At least I ordered in the morning and it arrived that afternoon!

Regional listings checked on 15 September 2026. Before importing a China-market NA230, check its voltage, frequency and plug against your home supply, and ask who will handle warranty repairs. The China-listed /00 is rated at 220–240 V / 50 Hz; a shared model number is not enough to choose an appliance for a different electrical supply.

Our Take

What this first cook tells us

The owner reports one sweet-potato cook in an NA230 identified without a regional suffix: 50 minutes at 180°C, turning the potatoes after 30 minutes. The batch size and weight are unknown, so this is one result rather than a fixed recipe for NA230/00 (US and Germany) or NA230/09 (UK).

The owner was pleased with the finished sweet potatoes after 50 minutes at 180°C (356°F), including turning them after the first 30 minutes. Check your own batch as it cooks: the post gives no potato weights, so the timing is a guide rather than a fixed recipe. This was a first cooking session; longer-term use and other recipes are not covered.

If an all-metal interior or heating from above and below is important to you, check those features separately. They were the owner’s shopping preferences. The owner reports that the starfish-shaped base was supposed to improve hot-air circulation. Philips lists RapidAir circulation and a non-stick coating for NA230/00, but the cited evidence does not confirm a lower heating element.
