Shokz OpenDots ONE: first impressions of Dolby Audio and clip-on comfort
I tried Shokz OpenDots ONE in-store and while running: Dolby Audio made music feel more immersive and the clips felt comfortable; my Sony XM5 comparison did not include noise cancellation.
I happened to see these Shokz earbuds while browsing in a shopping mall and tried them on. I had previously tried Huawei clip-on earbuds, but these sounded better. As soon as I put them on, I was impressed by how good the sound quality was. The price happened to be attractive over the next couple of days, so I bought them.
As soon as they arrived today, I could not wait to listen. The default sound was already very good, and the Bluetooth connection was quick. Taking the earbuds off automatically paused playback. After I downloaded the app and enabled Dolby Audio, the experience became even more immersive. They were especially well suited to listening to Hua Chenyu’s Tipping Point album: I could hear a lot of detail and become deeply absorbed in the music. The sound quality and effects felt about as good as those of my Sony XM5, although of course that comparison does not include noise cancellation.
They feel quite comfortable to wear. I do not have the neckband-earphone problem of something hanging around my neck, or the head-clamping pressure of large over-ear headphones. They also avoid the problems I had with in-ear Bluetooth earbuds: I could never find the right size, they often fell out, and they were uncomfortable. Clip-on earbuds are still worth buying. I tried running with these, and they did not seem likely to fall off. Nice. I’m an earbud enthusiast.

Models in your region
The source author’s photographs and account identify the product as Shokz OpenDots ONE, but do not provide a complete regional SKU. The official US page identifies OpenDots ONE as a clip-on open-ear earbud with Dolby Audio, up to 10 hours of battery per charge, up to 40 hours with the case, and IP54 earbud protection. The Chinese-market unit may differ in SKU or service coverage, and hardware equivalence is not established.

What the owner actually experienced
The owner enjoyed the combination of open-ear comfort and music playback. They preferred the OpenDots ONE to previously tried Huawei clip-on earbuds, found the default sound good, and reported fast Bluetooth connection and automatic pausing when the earbuds were removed.
Dolby Audio changed the owner’s impression after setup in the companion app. While listening to Hua Chenyu’s Tipping Point, they described the presentation as immersive with rich detail and felt it approached their Sony XM5 in sound quality and effects. This was the owner’s comparison, not a controlled test, and explicitly excluded noise cancellation.
Fit and activity trade-offs
The owner appreciated the clip-on form because it avoided the neckband, over-ear clamping, and in-ear fit problems they had experienced. They also tried running and found the earbuds did not seem likely to fall off. This supports the owner’s comfort and stability impression, but it does not establish fit for every ear or activity.
The owner’s Sony XM5 comparison should be read with its stated limitation: the OpenDots ONE result did not include noise cancellation. Buyers who mainly want isolation should not treat the owner’s similar sound impression as evidence of equivalent noise-cancelling performance.
US model information and purchase checks
For the US-market OpenDots ONE, Shokz lists a clip-on open-ear design, Dolby Audio, up to 10 hours of use per charge, up to 40 hours with the charging case, and IP54 protection for the earbuds. These are official product-page specifications, not measurements from the owner’s single-day listening session.
The regional match remains incomplete: the source author does not give a full model number or confirm a US unit, while the exact configuration and service coverage of the Chinese unit may differ. Check the local seller’s exact model, warranty, and service terms before treating the US specifications as applicable.
