Shokz clip-on earbuds: repeated disconnection notes for OpenDots ONE buyers

I found that my Shokz earbuds kept disconnecting after service checks and a replacement, sometimes sending office audio to my phone’s speaker.

A dark gray Shokz earbud charging case inside a clear protective shell sits on a wooden desk in front of a keyboard, with a flower-shaped decoration and a black device behind it; a large Chinese text overlay reads “断联.”

These earbuds are really awful. When I bought them at the beginning of the year, they already had a problem with disconnecting on their own. I sent them back for after-sales inspection, but the service center said there was nothing wrong. After I got them back, they still disconnected from time to time. I sent them back again, and the service center again found no problem, so they replaced them with a new pair.

The new pair now disconnects frequently whenever I wear it. The repeated disconnections make the experience extremely frustrating. In the office, the audio suddenly switches to the phone’s speaker.

I do not know whether the problem is caused by the iPhone or by something wrong with my ears. I looked into it and found that many other people have the same problem. For earbuds costing around CNY 1,000, the brand should have made them work properly. They are also not very comfortable when clipped onto my ears, and I prefer my new AirPods 4.

Awful earbuds, awful brand—avoid them. I even bought a pair for my partner; I was an idiot.

In September, they again inexplicably disconnected while I was wearing them and switched to the phone’s speaker. My partner’s earbuds developed the same problem. In summary, this is a brand I would not buy.

What the owner’s experience shows

The owner reports repeated disconnections on the original pair, after two service inspections, and again on the replacement. The same complaint later appeared with the partner’s pair, while the owner remains uncertain whether the iPhone contributed; this is a reported experience, not a controlled diagnosis.

The practical consequence was especially disruptive in the office: audio unexpectedly switched to the phone’s speaker. Buyers who need reliable audio to stay in their ears, especially at work, should treat this account as a reason to verify device compatibility and return options.

US product information and buying limits

For the US-market Shokz OpenDots ONE, the official page lists clip-on open-ear earbuds with Dolby Audio, up to 10 hours of playback per charge, up to 40 hours with the charging case, and IP54 protection for the earbuds. These are listed specifications, not results from the owner’s use.

The official US specifications cannot establish that the owner’s Chinese-market unit has the same hardware, battery behavior, protection rating or service terms. Before buying across regions, confirm the exact SKU, local warranty and return process; the owner’s repeated service checks and replacement did not resolve the reported disconnections.
