Shokz OpenFit 2 (T920): repeated ear-hook failures, including a replacement

I bought Shokz OpenFit 2 in February 2025; its right ear hook deformed within months, then the replacement’s left hook fractured in September 2026.

I bought it in February 2025. The right ear hook had deformed by July, and after-sales service replaced it. The replacement’s left ear hook fractured during normal use in September 2026.

I touched the deformed elastic-metal ear-hook area; the fracture showed necking at the break.

Both failures involved this structure, so I reasonably suspect that the 0.7 mm titanium wire Shokz advertises has not undergone long-term durability validation. As the most critical structure in an ear-hook headset, this raises the possibility that the entire headset’s service life is only about a year.

The owner’s service record identifies the product as Shokz OpenFit 2 (T920), but the purchase market and regional variant are not established. The regional product page identifies the corresponding US OpenFit 2 and lists a two-year US warranty; those specifications and warranty terms should not automatically be assumed to apply elsewhere.

What the owner’s failure report shows

The owner reports that the right ear hook deformed within about five months of purchase, was replaced through after-sales service, and that the replacement later fractured on the left side during normal use. The service record describes the original right hook as deformed, loose and impossible to wear. This is one owner’s experience, not proof of model-wide durability.

The owner observed necking at the fracture and links both failures to the ear-hook structure. Their suspicion about the advertised 0.7 mm titanium wire remains unverified. The wire specification and long-term durability have not been independently confirmed.

What to check before buying

For the US OpenFit 2, Shokz lists 9.4 g earbuds, up to 11 hours per charge, up to 48 hours with the case, IP55 earbuds and a two-year US warranty. These published specifications do not resolve the owner’s structural-durability concern, so buyers who rely heavily on the ear hook should confirm local warranty terms and replacement procedures before purchase.

The owner’s report concerns repeated failure of the flexible ear-hook area rather than battery life, weight or water resistance. The evidence therefore supports treating hook durability and after-sales coverage as the key buying questions, while leaving the product’s broader reliability uncertain.
