My Daewoo dual-valve 5L pressure cooker: separate pots and rear steam release
Reviewed: Daewoo Dual-Valve Menxiang 5L pressure cookerRegional reference: Daewoo SDA2621 6L pressure cooker and air fryer (UK)
I bought a Daewoo dual-valve 5L pressure cooker for my mother; its separate pots, simple controls and rear steam release changed her routine.
I bought my mother a new electric pressure cooker, and she started making different dishes every day. Whenever she saw me, she would say how easy this pressure cooker was to use.
Our family had always used a stovetop pressure cooker. Every time I released the steam, I had to stay well out of the way; once, the valve plug was pushed right out. It felt dangerous.
I should have bought one for her sooner. In summer, spending a long time cooking in a hot kitchen leaves you covered in sweat. With this Daewoo electric pressure cooker, I can put in the pork trotters or meat, select the pork-trotter/tendon setting, and let it cook. The high-pressure setting is 70 kPa, and the meat became very tender. The controls are fairly simple: I taught her once, and she learned. Later, she also used it to make soup and mung bean dessert, and both turned out well. I did not need to watch the heat, so I could sit and watch television while waiting to eat. The 5L capacity is enough for four people in my household.
I bought the double-pot version: the uncoated stainless-steel inner pot for stewing meat and the fluorine-free enamel inner pot for cooking rice. Rice took roughly 20 minutes, and compared with a rice cooker, it seemed more fragrant, soft and sticky. The two inner pots can be stacked without taking up much space, and they did not transfer cooking smells in my experience. With only one inner pot, the smell of spices would linger; opening it next time could send the scent straight up to your head. Having one pot for each type of food has been very useful.
I really had a fear of electric pressure cookers exploding. I decided to buy this one after seeing that it could release steam toward the back. When I helped my mother release the steam in the kitchen, I did not burn my hand; the steam went backward, and there was also a gauge to look at. That made me feel safer, and I felt more reassured when she used it alone.
This Daewoo dual-valve Menxiang pressure cooker has been used for some time now. My mother, the cook in our household, really likes using it and feels that buying this pressure cooker was worth the money.

What the owner actually used
The owner reports that one lesson was enough for their mother to use the Daewoo 5L cooker, with tender meat, soup and mung bean dessert among the results. The claimed 70 kPa and roughly 20-minute rice time were not independently measured.
The dedicated meat and rice inserts made storage and odour management easier in this household. The owner describes them as uncoated stainless steel and fluorine-free enamel; those material descriptions have not been independently verified.
Rearward steam release made the owner more comfortable helping their mother. That personal experience does not establish burn-proof operation; the UK SDA2621 instructions still require supervision.
How the UK Daewoo reference differs
The related UK Daewoo SDA2621 is specified at 6L, 220–240V and 70 kPa working pressure. Its air-fryer pot cannot replace its pressure pot for pressure cooking, so it does not reproduce the owner’s two dedicated pressure-cooking inserts.

The SDA2621 manual notes that its silicone seal can retain odours. Separating inserts may help with food smells, as the owner found, while the shared lid and seal still need attention. The UK instructions specify natural release for liquid foods and handwashing with warm soapy water and soft tools; parts are not dishwasher-safe.
