Midea dual-heat air fryer: chicken-cooking notes for MSA11D9ABB and MAF112B0BPKW buyers

I tried chicken drumsticks in my Midea Xinfeng Yankao air fryer. Both sides browned evenly, and the viewing windows let me keep an eye on the food.

Trying the much-promoted Midea

All the online talk about oil-free air frying persuaded me to buy the same Midea Xinfeng Yankao air fryer. I wanted to see whether the claimed upper and lower heating and fresh-air-instead-of-hot-oil idea really worked that well.

It has two viewing windows, which let me see the food more clearly than an enclosed design. I started with chicken drumsticks. Worried they might dry out, I sprayed a little oil and selected the deep-fry-style mode.

I was sceptical of the claimed 2000 W upper and lower heating, but when the food came out, both sides looked equally browned and cooked to me. I could also see rendered fat at the bottom of the basket, which made me feel my extra oil had been unnecessary.

It really reproduced the crispness of deep-fried food: crisp outside and tender inside. My explanation is that the machine removes moisture from the food, allowing crispness without oil. Who says you can’t have both health and flavour?

I’m not praising it just for the sake of it. It’s performed well so far, whether with meat, vegetables or desserts. I’d put my success rate above 85%, so I think even a beginner could get on well with it. I can see why it gets attention.

Midea China’s MF-KZC6521 listing confirms a dual-window, upper/lower-heater product at 220 V and a rated 2000 W. The listing covers MF-KZC6521; the owner’s complete model number is unknown, so these specifications may differ from their appliance.

Choosing for everyday use

The owner’s Midea Xinfeng Yankao cooks with heating from above and below a single basket. The MSA11D9ABB (US) and MAF112B0BPKW (UK) alternatives instead have separate upper and lower cooking spaces. This changes how you divide a meal between cooking spaces.

Midea’s Chinese MF-KZC6521 listing gives a rated 2000 W, separately describing a 1450 W upper heater and 500 W lower heater. The total rated figure and individual heater figures are different specification fields. The owner does not give a full model number, so wattage and appearance alone cannot identify their version.

The owner reports attractive browning and texture, but provides no food-temperature measurements or counted trials behind “above 85%.” That is their estimate, not a measured success rate. Rendered fat in the basket and using less added oil also do not by themselves establish the nutritional value of the finished meal.

A window is useful for checking colour without interrupting cooking. It cannot establish that the centre of a thick piece is cooked. Treat the account as a positive first-hand result, rather than a complete cooking protocol.
