PETKIT Ultra: first two weeks with four cats, with Purobot Ultra buying context

After two weeks with a PETKIT Ultra and four cats, I found the waste bin filled in about three days. My old litter box needed scooping twice daily.

The PETKIT Ultra automatic cat litter box has been good overall. I have used it for two weeks, and I have gone from being worried at first to feeling fairly satisfied now.

Waste compartment

With four cats, the waste compartment becomes full in about three days. For one cat, I think it should last about 10 days. Compared with my previous huge traditional litter box, which measured 70 × 50 cm and required scooping twice a day, I am satisfied.

Urine leakage and scattered litter

I have not encountered urine leakage so far. The edge-guiding design should help prevent it, but the exposed screws on the removable sealing ring of the three-proof pad could rust if they get urine on them. Litter carried out by the cats falls into the litter-collection tray beneath the globe, which I check weekly to see whether it needs cleaning.

When paired with the litter-control board and litter-trapping mat, it solves about 90% of the tracking problem.

Cleaning

Overall, I do not feel that it needs frequent cleaning. During my two weeks of use, the cats collectively had soft stools for one day, and wiping the unit with a wet wipe got it clean. However, to prevent problems from soft stools, I suggest setting cleaning to begin after a 30–60-minute delay and enabling the assisted-burying function, so poorly covered waste does not contaminate the globe.

Waste-packing function

Automatic packing and automatic bag fitting are genuinely satisfying. I can basically operate everything through the app and only need to carry away the packed waste bag by hand. This is what an automatic cat litter box should be; the others can all be treated as relics of an earlier era.

Odor

When paired with the odor-control cube, there is basically no smell. I notice only a tiny amount when the waste bag is being packed. Of course, that is a different story with a cat that does not bury its waste.

Cat weight

My blue-coated cat, weighing more than 15 jin, about 7.5 kg, can use it. At first I worried that the cat would not have enough room to turn around, but in practice it was fine. However, a Maine Coon weighing around 20 jin, about 10 kg, might not manage well. I suggest also looking at the PETKIT MAX, MAX PRO or Homer.

Litter recommendation

I still recommend cassava litter, or cassava mixed with tofu litter or mineral litter. The fast clumping and low base-sticking of cassava litter must be the foundation; otherwise, I expect the litter box will need to be disassembled and washed regularly.

Camera

It is useful. The main point is not watching the cat; if that is all you want, any ordinary camera with a clear picture will do better. The camera is for observing the cat's stool condition. People with multiple cats should understand: when I find soft stool while scooping, I have no idea which cat produced it. With the camera, that problem is completely solved. Perfect.

Four-Cat Capacity Versus Regional Claims

The owner's four cats filled the waste compartment in about three days, while the owner estimated roughly 10 days for one cat. That experience is more useful for planning a multi-cat routine than the UK model's advertised figure of up to 20 days, which the official page describes as a one-cat laboratory result rather than a multiple-cat schedule.

For the UK Purobot Ultra P9903, the official listing specifies a 10 L waste compartment. Buyers should therefore treat the owner's three-day result as a source-version household observation, not a guaranteed capacity figure for every regional model or cat household.

Waste Packing and Maintenance

The owner found automatic packing and bag fitting convenient and described app-based operation, but this should not be assumed for the regional P9903 versions. The US FAQ says packing cannot be initiated in the app: a person presses the OLED control, removes the sealed bag and double-clicks to fit a new one. The UK FAQ also requires someone at the device.

The owner's two-week experience involved wiping the globe after one day of soft stools rather than frequent washing. The owner recommends delaying cleaning by 30–60 minutes and enabling assisted burying to reduce contamination risk, while the UK guidance separately recommends fast-clumping litter no longer than 12 mm and no wider than 3 mm.

Litter Tracking, Leakage and Odor

The owner reported no urine leakage during two weeks of use and attributed possible protection to the edge-guiding design, but also noted that exposed screws on a removable sealing ring could rust if contaminated with urine. This is an owner observation, not a verified durability test.

The owner said a litter-control board and mat reduced about 90% of tracking, with loose litter collecting in a tray beneath the globe that was checked weekly. The official UK guidance adds that the unit should stand on firm, level flooring with 5 cm of wall clearance, which matters when planning installation space.

The owner reported almost no odor when using the odor-control cube, apart from a small smell during waste-bag packing, while noting that cats which do not bury waste may behave differently. This conclusion applies to the owner's household conditions rather than proving odor elimination for every cat.

Cat Size and Camera Use

The owner found the unit workable for a blue-coated cat weighing more than 15 jin, about 7.5 kg, but was uncertain about a Maine Coon around 20 jin, about 10 kg. The US Purobot Ultra P9903 lists a recommended cat-weight range of 1.5–10 kg, so buyers near the upper limit should still consider the cat's usable turning space.

For the owner, the camera's main value was identifying which cat had soft stool in a four-cat household, not providing the clearest general pet video. The regional Purobot Ultra listings also identify a rotating camera, but the owner's health-monitoring conclusion remains a household use case rather than a quantified diagnostic capability.
