PETKIT Ultra: a year of odor control and cleaning, with Purobot Ultra buying context

After a year with my PETKIT Ultra, I appreciate the odor control and automatic bagging. Stuck litter and washing the large drum are still awkward chores.

I bought it during last year's Singles' Day sale. Frank weighs 12 jin, or about 6 kg, and the size is sufficient. He is very timid, but after trying a few times, he was able to use it. The cat-detection function is extremely sensitive: as soon as he approaches, the cleaning cycle stops.

There really is not even a hint of odor in the house. The automatic packing function is very convenient, and we have not had any insects or larvae develop in it.

I was away from home for 10 days during the New Year holiday, and I did not need to ask anyone to come over and scoop the litter. The camera can also be used for two-way conversation.

The drawback is that litter can stick to the bottom sometimes, even though I replenish the litter fairly promptly. Cleaning it is also rather troublesome: the drum is very large and cannot be taken apart for washing.

Now that a second cat has joined the household, I still bought the second cat a traditional litter box separately. I have to scoop it every day, and the isolated room has a noticeable smell. It makes me feel that the automatic litter box is still very useful.

The owner's camera-equipped Chinese-market PETKIT Ultra should not be assumed to be identical to local versions. The US and UK official listings identify the Purobot Ultra P9903 as a similar regional product, while the UK evidence explicitly leaves exact Chinese hardware and firmware equivalence unconfirmed.

What the owner's year of use shows

The owner reports that a timid, approximately 6 kg cat eventually accepted the litter box, and that its presence detection stopped cleaning as soon as the cat approached. That is a useful indication of the owner's experience, not a controlled safety test or a guarantee for every cat.

For this household, odor control and automatic waste packing were the biggest practical benefits: the owner says the house had no noticeable smell and reports no insect problems. These observations come from one home and should not be treated as a universal odor-control result.

The owner also says the camera supported two-way conversation and that a 10-day absence during the New Year holiday did not require anyone to visit for scooping. This describes the reported setup and period of use; it does not establish how long any regional model can operate unattended.

Cleaning and litter trade-offs

The owner's main maintenance complaints are occasional litter sticking to the bottom and a large drum that cannot be disassembled for washing. Buyers who prioritize easy deep cleaning should treat this as a meaningful trade-off, even though the owner says litter was replenished promptly.

For the UK Purobot Ultra P9903, PETKIT specifies clumping litter no longer than 12 mm and no wider than 3 mm, recommending fast, tight clumping to reduce smearing. That guidance may help with the owner's sticky-bottom problem, but it does not prove that the Chinese-market unit uses the same tolerances.

Check the local packing workflow

The owner's positive experience with automatic packing reflects the source version. On the US Purobot Ultra, PETKIT's FAQ says packing cannot be initiated in the app: someone must press the OLED control, remove the sealed bag and double-click to start a new bag. That is an important limitation for buyers expecting completely remote waste handling.

The UK FAQ likewise requires a person at the device to initiate packing, remove the sealed bag and trigger replacement. The UK listing's claim of up to 20 days is a one-cat laboratory figure, not a maintenance schedule for multiple cats; the owner's later purchase of a separate traditional tray for the second cat reinforces the need to assess household capacity separately.

Regional fit and installation

The US P9903 is listed at 532 × 818 × 612 mm and 14.6 kg, supports dual-band Wi-Fi, has a recommended cat-weight range of 1.5–10 kg and requires PETKIT refill rings. A cat around 6 kg falls within that stated US weight range, but buyers still need to verify the exact local model, power arrangement and consumables before purchase.

The UK model requires firm, level flooring and 5 cm of wall clearance. Those installation conditions matter because the product is a rotating litter box; leave the specified clearance rather than placing it tightly against a wall or on an unstable surface.

Why the second cat changes the calculation

The owner continues to value the automatic box because a traditional tray for the second cat requires daily scooping and produces noticeable odor in the separate room. However, the owner did not rely on the automatic unit alone for both cats, so this account does not validate multi-cat capacity or unattended duration.
