My Waterdrop X12 after three months: fast fills and humidifier residue
Reviewed: Waterdrop X12Regional reference: Waterdrop X12 (United States); Waterdrop X12 (Europe)
I used my Waterdrop X12 for three months: it filled 1.7 liters in under 30 seconds, and my humidifiers left visibly different residue after 50 liters.
🇨🇦 I’ve been using an under-sink water purifier for three months! Waterdrop saw my previous post and invited me to share my experience. They also offered a special deal (see photo 11 and the comments; it was extended to March 24)! I also did a little amateur-scientist test.
⭐ Pros at a glance
✅ Fast, high-volume dispensing! I no longer have to wait for water to filter. It’s much faster than my refrigerator filter. The flow is also enough when I need a lot of water for braising meat or steaming rice. In photo 2, I tested the X12, rated at 1,200 GPD: it dispensed 1.7 liters in under 30 seconds.
✅ Convenient installation: It connects directly to the kitchen’s water supply and drain, avoiding the need to refill a countertop RO unit or empty its wastewater.
✅ Better water purification: Compared with activated-carbon filters in refrigerators or Brita pitchers, which can remove chlorine and odors, an RO purifier uses a semipermeable membrane to filter dissolved substances, heavy metals, microbes, and chemicals from water. Photo 4 shows DeepSeek’s summary of how RO works.
⭐ Choosing a model
I summarized the differences between models in photo 9. The G3P600, G3P800, K6, and X8 are suitable for home use. My household uses the X12, which already has a very high flow rate; if your budget is limited, I think 600–800 GPD is enough. The X16 has a higher flow rate for commercial use. Filter replacement intervals range from 6 to 24 months, depending on the filter model.
⭐ A small test
I used two humidifiers that evaporate water by heating it. Each evaporated 50 liters: one used tap water and the other used purified water from the filter. I didn’t clean either humidifier during the test. Photos 6–8 show the comparison: the tap-water humidifier had noticeably more residue.
⚒️ Installation tips
If you’re handy, you can install it yourself; there are lots of tutorials on YouTube. Hiring a handyman costs about CAD $300. The power supply can be taken from the dishwasher.
⭐ Deal reminder
Using the code in photo 11 and the comments can bring the price down by a few dozen dollars more than the price on the official website! It comes with a one-year warranty, while the X series gets two years.

Models in your region
The owner identifies the unit as a Waterdrop X12, and the official US and European listings both identify an X12 tankless reverse-osmosis system. Those listings establish the same model name, but not that the owner’s exact unit has the same regional accessories or electrical configuration.
| Model in this review | Related regional model | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Waterdrop X12 | Waterdrop X12 (United States) | The US listing and the owner’s account use the same X12 model name. The listing specifies 1,200 GPD, a 3:1 purified-to-drain ratio, a smart faucet, and electrical operation; these are manufacturer specifications, not results measured by the owner. The photos do not establish the unit’s full suffix or adapter rating. |
| Waterdrop X12 | Waterdrop X12 (Europe) | The European listing also identifies an X12 and specifies 1,200 GPD and a 3:1 purified-to-drain ratio. Confirm local plug and accessory details before buying; the listing does not establish that they match the owner’s Canadian unit. |

The X12’s flow rating is not the owner’s fill-time result
The owner says the X12 dispensed 1.7 liters in under 30 seconds, a useful household observation for filling a pot or preparing water for cooking. The US and European product pages list a nominal capacity of 1,200 gallons per day; that manufacturer rating is separate from the owner’s timed fill and does not guarantee the same result in every installation.
Both regional listings describe an electrically operated, tankless RO system. The US page lists a power adapter, feed-water connection parts, and a drain saddle, so installation planning needs to account for a water supply, drain connection, and electricity. The supplied evidence does not verify the owner’s suggestion to draw power from a dishwasher circuit; check local electrical requirements rather than treating that suggestion as confirmed installation guidance.
What the humidifier comparison can—and cannot—show
In the owner’s household comparison, two humidifiers each evaporated 50 liters using heat without being cleaned, and the owner observed visibly more residue in the one using tap water. This is a specific comparison of visible residue under those conditions, not a measurement of contaminant removal or proof of water safety; it does not identify the substances in the deposits. The RO explanation is photo 3 in the source gallery, although the post refers to photo 4; it and photo 8 are DeepSeek screenshots, not measurements or a diagnosis of the deposits.
The owner recommends considering lower-capacity options such as 600–800 GPD if a household does not need the X12’s flow. The official evidence supplied here confirms the X12’s listing, but gives no corresponding specifications for those alternatives, so their features, capacity, and suitability cannot be compared from this evidence alone.
Check regional accessories before installation
The official US and European pages both list the Waterdrop X12 as a 1,200 GPD system with a 3:1 purified-to-drain ratio, but the supplied European information does not establish that its plug or accessory bundle matches the US listing or the owner’s Canadian unit. Confirm local power and connection parts before purchase; the source photos do not show a readable full hardware suffix or adapter rating. The discount codes, March 24 deadline, and Canadian checkout prices shown belong to the March 2025 post; current offers and warranty terms were not verified.
