PETKIT MAX2: two cats filled the waste bin by day three

Reviewed: PETKIT MAX2Regional reference: PETKIT 小佩 MAX 2 (Mainland China); PETKIT PuraMax 2 (United States)

I used the PETKIT MAX2 with two cats and an 8.5 kg cat; despite the advertised 15-day single-cat claim, my bin overflowed late on day three.

The 3D render displays a 'Cleaning' status in the circular entrance, accompanied by a 'Pause' button and the status 'Cleaning cat litter, please wait.' Below, today's usage statistics show 4 visits with an average duration of 1 minute 38 seconds. A bottom control menu offers actions including 'Clean Now', 'Maintenance Mode', 'Empty Litter', and 'Smart Settings'.

  1. Purchase: I bought this in the first wave of the Double 11 sales on JD.com. The price was a little over 850 yuan; JD membership made it cheaper.
  2. Why I bought it: I travelled an enormous number of times this year, usually for about a week each time. I kept asking friends to look after my cats, and I was almost too embarrassed to ask again. I also did not want strangers coming into my home for visits, but I still wanted to give my cats a clean living environment. So I started using money to solve the problem. (By the way, cat toilets are really expensive, and cat litter is really expensive too! Why have cats not learned to use the human toilet and flush it themselves?)
  3. My cats’ situation: My older cat is a giant weighing 8.5 kg and is about 80 cm long, not including the tail. A phone’s automatic recognition can even classify him as dog-sized. I therefore needed a relatively large cat toilet, with enough room for him to turn around easily, and this second-generation version has enough space. I saw the first generation at Sam’s Club, and it was not as large; even PETKIT’s square model did not have as much room as this one. Before buying an automatic litter box, I had always wanted one with this much space. Usually, the larger the space, the larger the litter tray and the more litter it uses. However, this PETKIT only needed one bag of litter for the initial fill, and I added just one more bag during this period. The usage frequency was the same as before, which was excellent!
  4. Waste-bin capacity: The detailed official product page says that, with one cat, the waste bin can be used for 15 days. When I bought it, I assumed that two cats would halve that figure and theoretically give me 7.5 days. In my actual situation, with two cats using the toilet about five times a day in total, more than half of the waste bin had accumulated after two days. On one occasion, it indicated that the waste bin was full late on about the third day. I used NICOLEL tofu cat litter. The older cat urinated and defecated normally, while the younger one urinated more. I do not understand why this differed so much from the official figure. I plan to try PETKIT’s dedicated litter after using up my stored litter to see whether it can extend the interval.

The source account identifies the product as PETKIT MAX2, while the Mainland China official listing uses PETKIT 小佩 MAX 2. The US comparison is PETKIT PuraMax 2, a related product rather than a confirmed identical regional version; the supplied evidence does not establish that its hardware, firmware or bundle matches the owner’s unit.

What to know
This is the US-market related product listed by PETKIT, not a confirmed identical match to the owner’s MAX2. Because the supplied evidence does not confirm complete hardware, firmware or bundle equivalence, the owner’s capacity result should not be treated as a test of PuraMax 2.

The owner needed unusually generous interior space

The owner chose the MAX2 because an 8.5 kg cat measuring about 80 cm without its tail needed room to turn around easily. Their comparison with the first-generation and square PETKIT models is a personal observation from viewing those products, not a supplied dimensional measurement, so shoppers with large cats should still check the current model’s interior dimensions.

The owner also reported that the large space did not create the expected litter burden during this account: the initial fill used one bag, followed by one additional bag during the period, while the cats’ usage frequency remained the same as before. The source does not state the bag size or define the exact period covered by the second-bag observation, so the result cannot establish a universal litter-consumption rate.

Plan waste-bin emptying around the actual litter and cats

The product page cited by the owner claimed 15 days for one cat, but the owner’s two-cat setup did not approach a simple seven-and-a-half-day calculation: more than half the bin was filled after two days, and the bin reported full late on about the third day. That result came with NICOLEL tofu litter, two cats, and roughly five toilet visits per day in total, so it is a household-specific planning result rather than a general capacity test.

The owner attributed part of the difference to the younger cat urinating more and planned to try PETKIT’s dedicated litter after using existing supplies. The account does not report the result of that later trial, so buyers cannot yet confirm whether changing litter would materially extend the emptying interval.

What the regional comparison can and cannot tell you

For Mainland China buyers, the official listing supports treating PETKIT 小佩 MAX 2 as the owner’s regional model, so the one-week account is directly relevant to that product identity. It does not establish whether every retail bundle, accessory or software setting is the same as the owner’s unit.

For US buyers, PETKIT PuraMax 2 is the supplied official comparison product, but the evidence labels it a similar product rather than the same model. The owner’s large-cat fit and day-three waste-bin outcome therefore provide buying context, not verified PuraMax 2 performance; confirm its interior dimensions, litter compatibility and waste-bin guidance locally.
